Given the weather isn't the warmest, June can be more of a hibernation period, where we don't often want to venture into the great outdoors. However, these 5 June events are cheap and undercover - perfect for those wet, blustery days.

Vintage Fashion Bazaar- Sydney Antique Centre

Find one-of-a-kind vintage clothing and accessories while listening an assortment of soothing live music playing in the background. Sip delicious high tea and enjoy complimentary styling services at Sydney's premier vintage clothing destination – The Vintage Fashion Emporium Surry Hills.

The Vintage Fashion Emporium is located within the Sydney Antiques Centre (Australia's oldest antiques and collectibles hub). The Emporium now boasts eleven permanent vintage clothing stallholders and has become a favourite haunt for partygoers, race-goers, stylists and general shoppers alike.



There are eleven permanent stallholders – including Coco Repose, Empire 47, Keep It Secret, Look What the Cat Dragged In, Lou Murray Vintage, Over the Top Vintage, Retro Station, Vintage All Sorts, The Vintage Drawer and Zipper on the Side – sourcing their clothing and accessories from all over the world; you will find genuine one-off pieces from a by-gone era.

The males of the species are not left out, with plenty on offer from work-wear, daywear to an array of accessories.

Customers can also seek advice from professional stylist Lucy Alder, Styling Associate from Sophie Hart Styling. Perfect for people wanting to source the ideal vintage cocktail dress or even an intricately made wedding dress.

The optional high tea, courtesy of GG Espresso, is only $25 per head and includes tea or coffee, sandwiches, cake and scones, and a glass of sparkling wine.

The live music has a vintage theme, with the piano and vocal duo 'The Bluebells' performing songs spanning from the 30s, right through to the 80s.

O2 Bar Oxygen Station

The O2 Bar Oxygen Station is a very unique hang out, where you are able to sample over 15 exciting scents that can be inhaled for up to 15 minutes at a time for maximum effect.



Visitors breathe in 4-5 times the normal amount of oxygen - up to 90%, thus increasing your energy levels and leaving you with an up-lifted feeling. Another benefit for all you party goers, is that the increase in oxygen is said to relieve toxic headaches such as hangovers.

18th Sydney Biennale 2012

Held every two years, the Biennale of Sydney is Australia's largest contemporary visual arts event, showcasing bold and innovative contemporary art from around the world. This free event spans over 12 weeks and has many locations within Sydney, including the world heritage-listed site, Cockatoo Island.



Alongside the exhibition, the Biennale presents artist talks, guided tours, performances, forums, family days and other special events - all free to the public.

Sydney Life Photography Prize

This competition is open to all of those who love to capture 'Sydney Life'. As part of the annual Art & About Sydney Festival, the lucky 22 chosen finalists will have their work exhibited as large format photographic works, which will be suspended along the beautiful central walkway through Hyde Park North.



Submissions to Sydney Life are open to all Australian photographers (both professional and amateur). The work will be on display from 21 September – 21 October 2012.

Art & About Sydney is a free non-profit event. All selected finalist photographers will be paid an artist fee of $500.00 (plus GST if applicable).

The grand finalist will be awarded $10,000.

Korean Cultural Event - Cinema on the Park

Korea is known for their hardcore crime thrillers and Cinema On the Park will be showcasing a selection by a diverse range of directors.


The screenings take place opposite Hyde Park at the Korean Cultural Office, in a theatre that seats around 100 guests.

Each film has English subtitles, entry is free but you must book, as seats are limited.
