Fellow Sydneysiders, we are in for many treats to see out the final month of winter for 2012. Following on from the top things to do in July , now here comes amazing August. Enjoy the best that August has to offer.

1. I want to be challenged. I want variety and I love exercising and raising money for charity.

So exciting, the annual Sun Herald City 2 Surf is here yet again. A 14km physical challenge (run, jog, walk or dress up) for charity. Your physical fitness levels are tested. It is advisable to train before hand. There are various running clubs popping up in and around Sydney to assist. Welcome to the Sydney running season . Ensure you are prepared for this Hyde Park to Bondi Beach adventure with 'Heartbreak Hill' in between. And watch out for those Smurfs and dogs at Rose Bay along the way.

2. Music is my life, and my life is music

Then you're in luck. Roland K Smith and the Sinners will call The Sandringham Hotel home at Newtown this month, as they launch their new debut album. Enjoy a mixture of rock 'n' roll, country and punk music to name.

3. Boat lovers paradise

Darling Harbour will be home to the Sydney International Boat Show once more. The Boat Show will be held from the 3rd to the 5th of August. See a variety of classic and historical boats. Fishing lessons are also available. Boats will be on display inside the exhibition centre, and outside at Cockle Bay Wharf.

4. Dance the night away

The Encore Sydney Pole Show is exactly that, home to some quality pole dancing performances. Theatre, dance, circus and celebration delights. Furthermore, Hard Attack also launches at the University of New South Wales this month. If you love your techno dance, then you might, just might fall in love with Hard Attack.
Dance lovers will also love the Spring Dance Festival , on at the Sydney Opera House.

5. I own my own home, and it's time for some decorating or improvements

If so, the Penrith Spring Home Show is on. A showcase of the latest home designs and innovations. Over 90 exhibitors are available to talk to. Seminars, demonstrations and competitions are also expected.

6. Anything for fashion lovers?

Yes there is. If you missed Fashion Weekend Sydney earlier in the year; it is never too late to grab front row seats to the Mercedez Benz Fashion Festival . Style workshops, cocktails, canapes and pop up bars are also included. Beauty trend consultations are also available. Different benefits (those listed above) come with different packages. There are four different packages to choose from.

7. Any film festivals on?

Yes. Sydney is also home to the Lebanese Film Festival . An eye opening experience to Lebanese film and culture. The main attraction of this event will be in Sydney's Bankstown; although the festival will also he held at various locations throughout Sydney.
