Bring the family to this multicultural event
The Children's Festival is a totally unique celebration of cultural diversity. It will have a fantastic entertainment program performed by some 30 groups from "culturally and linguistically diverse communities." Thousands of children and their families are expected to attend this event.
The mission of the organisation is to contribute to making a more tolerant Australian society by bringing children and their parents and friends together at a Children's Festival. If children are able to experience this sharing and understanding from a young age, the Children's Festival hopes that adults too will also learn to share and understand.
They will have activities during the day such as workshops, arts and crafts and an animal farm. Bring your child or children and let them enjoy the fun and games – entry is free! There will be great music and dancing, a traditional costume display, exciting outdoor games and activities. The workshops include kite making and flying, lion dance and much more.
The highlight of the day will be the Children's Parade, where community groups from all cultures and walks of life will attend the 1.30 pm start.
There will be a prize presentation for the poster design contest, which will be about the theme Celebrating Australia Together and this will be held at the main stage at 2.15 pm.
The Children's Festival is a non-profit organisation which began in Bankstown in 1999. This organisation has continuously grown and puts on this important community event, which is run and organised by volunteers who work with thousands of children and their families every year.
