The Sydney Brick Show returns to Sydney Town Hall for its annual exhibition of LEGO creations, built and displayed by Australian LEGO fans and collectors. Over one weekend, during the school holidays, you'll get to peruse some unique pieces made by some 100 hundred passionate die hard adults that grew up with the coloured bricks and just can't put them down.
Look out for some interactive exhibits, LEGO play areas and the best in new, rare and vintage LEGO for sale at various stalls. If you're there on the Saturday then cast a vote for your favourite piece in the People's Choice Award. Last year's winner was Gene with a replica of San Francisco's Golden Gate Bridge.
For children, there's a Kid's Creation Competition with two categories – one open to junior builders, aged 6-10 years, and another open to intermediate builders, aged 11-16 years. Entry is already open so if you've got that creative gene then get building as you could win 1 of 20 family passes to the show and the opportunity to have your winning creation displayed alongside Australia's premier builders. The competition closes 9th April.
The show is on 22-23 April from 9am to 5pm each day, with last entry at 4pm. Tickets are $11 per child and $16 per adult. Under 2's are free. It's best to book first via Ticketmaster to guarantee entry as this is a popular event.
This event is not organised by the LEGO Group of companies but volunteer run and is not-for-profit with ticket sales going towards supporting local children's charities, including Westmead's Bear Cottage.
Fun for all ages, you can also discover the beautiful Victorian architecture of the Town Hall building outside and inside with its Centennial Hall and Grand Organ, Vestibule and huge chandelier, ornate ceilings and stained-glass windows of Australian flora.
