The Nut Shop

This is the HQ of the legendary family-owned Nut Shop in the Strand Arcade, where you can buy premium quality nuts, chocolates and dried fruit at a discount:
  • 200g bags - 10% discount on retail prices
  • 500g bags - 15% discount on retail prices

  • Get your nuts any way you like them, from raw or roasted, salted or unsalted. There is a wide variety of dried fruit, including incaberries and dried sour cherries. Our favourites are the Roasted Almond Chocolate Slabs and Almond Splinters, made with their own blend using Callebaut dark chocolate, and their roasted blanched almonds. These guys don't skimp on the roasting time with their nuts and it shows in a deep nutty flavour and crunch.

    Hours: Mon – Fri 6am to 6pm

Situated in a warehouse which doubles as a giant coolroom, you will see rows of parkas as you enter. Do put one on as it is frigid inside, so you can shop in comfort as you fill your trolley with export-quality meats, both grain and grass-fed beef, lamb and pork. More exotic meats (like crocodile) and offal (lamb's brains) are available in the freezer cabinets.

Our favourites are the lamb ribs, grass-fed scotch fillet, grass-fed beef mince, free-range pork and crackling which is a steal at around $2-3 per piece (depending on weight). They also have a deli selling cheese and smallgoods. Once you make your selections, exit the coolroom, hang up your parkas and make your way to the checkouts.

If you want any of your meat cut up, you can then proceed to the butcher's counter where they will cheerfully deal with your meal however you like. For a small charge, they will vacuum pack your meat into smaller bags.
