What makes a great bar? Is it a superior drinks list? Hip and stylish interior design? Impeccable service? A convenient location? The city's best mixologist stirring and shaking behind the bar? You can test out your theories at a range of top notch Sydney bars and pubs during Sydney Bar Week from Saturday 22 September to Tuesday 25 September. "That's not a week" I hear you say. Too right, but there's a week's worth of bar entertainment packed into those 4 days.


[ADVERT]Sydney Bar Week has morphed from a those-in-the-know, trade only barfest into a bar bazaar for the patrons as well as the professionals and everyone's invited to the celebrations. Events range from the opening night gala and hush hush speakeasy bar tours to a whiskey tasting Sydney Harbour cruise, Rocks pub tour and a number of displays and tastings for the general public at Drinks Fest on Sunday 23 September.

Event Highlights

"Get Shucked" Opening Night Gala Event

The Morrison Bar and Oyster Room at The Rocks is the venue for the opening night gala celebration. Chef Sean Connelly and host David Spanton will serve up fresh oysters, cool jazz and creative cocktails from 6.30pm on Saturday 22 September. Register here to purchase your tickets for $60 per person.


CBD Speakeasy Bar Tour

Between 5pm and 8pm on Saturday 22 September The Ketel One CBD Speakeasy Bar Tour will take you on a tour of 3 of Sydney's "hidden" bars, complete with guide and a cocktail and share food at each venue. Flapper dresses and Al Capone outfits are optional. Tickets are $75 per person and can be booked online after you register here . Once you've purchased your tickets you will be emailed the top secret location meeting point. Remember to keep it to yourself.


Drinks Fest

2 separate sessions of Drinks Fest will be held on Sunday 23 September. Session 1 runs from 11am to 3pm and includes Tiki Safari, a Gin Vs. Vodka tasteoff, Tequila tastings and hands on Mixology with Dave Kerr, Schweppes' expert stirrer and shaker. For those of you who like to wait until the sun is well and truly over the yardarm before your first tipple Session 2 begins at 3.30pm and keeps on mixing until 7.30pm with single malt and Tequila tastings, Madmen cocktails and the Cruise Upper Deck Bar Sunset BBQ.
