Sybella Creek is located just 15 minutes south of Mount Isa, not far from
Mount Isa Granite Mine. No signage shows its locations. Just drive through Diamantina Development Road, past Mount Isa Golf Course and the power station.
Sybella Creek will flow only after big rains and the stream will run water to a lower level in a channel on land. It's a gorgeous place for a paddle or quick swim as well as a great opportunity for bird watching.

Tadpoles and little fish can be found here
In 2020, scientists found new gecko species near this creek. They named this new gecko species
Gehyra lauta (ghost gecko).

While you're there, take a walk through the bolders and slabs of granite and discover some awesome photography opportunities. As in many places in Queensland, be prepared with a fly net or insect repellent before heading here as well as sunscreen. If you have wet shoes, better put them on as well, as you might find some glass bottles around the creek. When the creek dries, this place is a favourite place for dirt motorbikes. As far as I know, camping is not allowed around this area.
