Live music is making a comeback
It does seem that slowly our lives are returning to some semblance of normal, doesn't it? After all, I've dined on chicken schnitzel at the local pub and lost an hour bathing in the creativity at a local art gallery. The only experience missing, other than a decent haircut, is to sit back and enjoy some live music.
I've so missed attending a musical or theatrical performance, haven't you? We are so blessed in South East Queensland to have had a variety of music on offer week after week, showcasing the talents of local, national and international performers alike.
Exciting news then: the Redcliffe Entertainment Centre located in Downs Street, Redcliffe, is once again open for business!
We've booked tickets for the first show back on Tuesday, 28th of July, featuring Melly Melody and her band performing songs as a tribute to the great female voices of the '40's, '50's and '60's. S'Wonderful pays homage to Vera Lynn, The Andrews Sisters, Patsy Cline, Peggy Lee, Doris Day, Ella Fitzgerald, Julie London, Jo Stafford, Billie Holiday, Patti Page, Etta James, Nina Simone, Aretha Franklin, and Dusty Springfield.
Tickets cost $20 each (with an additional online fee) and the show goes for 90 minutes without an interval, commencing at 11am.
The Redcliffe Entertainment Centre is a comfortable venue with some great facilities, including a cafe. Substantial free parking is available in the car park at the rear of the building, which can be accessed via Irene Street. Additional car parks can be found at the bottom of Irene Street, opposite the Redcliffe RSL.
I'm really looking forward to the toe-stomping musical performance with MellyMelody and band, as well as a wander around Redcliffe's foreshore. As Vera Lynn sang so beautifully, "I'll be seeing you ..."
