The is located right in the heart of Sydney's CBD on Sydney/@-33.8706577,151.2073871,15z/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x0:0xddd6e7a22166c33b?sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwi97qGO7LzjAhXx4XMBHe0ODywQ_BIwD3oECA8QCA Market Street , right opposite the State Theatre. When you walk into the small entrance of the hotel you are greeted by the Concierge team, before being directed up to the 8th floor of the towering building. Once at the 8th floor, you then walk out into an impressive hotel lobby with stunning artworks, shining chandeliers, an elevated bar called the Crossroads Bar (good for pre-show drinks) and also the Jpb Restaurant (ideal for breakfast or lunch the next day).

Just to the left of the restaurants is the check-in desk for the hotel, where you are warmly welcomed, provided with key cards and given directions to the lift and your room. The process is easy, professional and couldn't be any more welcoming. This hotel is 5 star in every way...

After swiping your room card in the lift to get you up to your floor, you then walk out into a corridor with heritage décor to match the style of the building. On our family's visit, we were staying in a Swiss Advantage Twin Room (booked through Booking.com ), which had two double beds, located on the 16th floor. We chose this hotel in particular as we had booked an evening show at the State Theatre and we liked the convenience of getting back to our room quickly with our young daughter. It was perfectly located.

Upon entering the room, our daughter excitedly jumped on the beds, as we explored the clean bathroom, mini bar and wardrobe with handy extra's - such as an umbrella if we needed one!

After exploring the room, we also enjoyed the view of the city from the 16th floor - with the pool down below and the Queen Victoria Building to the left. A building nearby had a rooftop garden and it was also interesting at night to see the city lights come on and the workers in nearby towers staying back late in their offices. For kids, it is a magical wonderland of discovery just outside the window!

Alternatively, if you have young children, you may want to consider the Kids Room for your stay, with a range of toys and extras which will make your stay more enjoyable - and fun! It has the same layout as the Swiss Advantage Twin Room, however they fill it with age appropriate toys and games, for children and pre-teens aged 2 - 12.

This hotel was surprisingly quiet. After returning back from the show at the State Theatre we sank into our super-soft pillows and had a good night's sleep - in a silent room. In some hotels you can hear the sound of doors opening and closing in the corridor all night, however we all commented that we didn't hear anything during the night which woke us up.

If you are staying longer or wish to take advantage of the hotel's amenities, there is also a long swimming pool, perfect for laps, as well as the Spa & Sport at Swissotel - which recently received a World Luxury Spa Award for the fourth consecutive year in a row.

If you are driving into the city, the hotel offers a self-parking option or full valet service at a cost of $45 - $80 per 24 hours, at a Wilson car park 5 minutes away in Kent Street (see details here ). Alternatively, we chose to park at Wilson St Martins Tower Car Park in Clarence Street, on the other side of the Queen Victoria Building, which was $31 for an overnight fee and 24 hours of parking. We booked ahead online, which made the process easy when we arrived.

We couldn't fault our stay at the and gave it top marks for cleanliness, style, ambience and of course, location. You can easily see why it is so popular with anyone who wants to stay the night in the heart of the city - with Westfield Sydney just metres in one direction and the QVB in the other. If you are anything like our family, you will leave refreshed from a good night's sleep, full from the wide range of delicious food nearby and with a lot less money in the pocket - from all the shopping we did in Pitt Street, just behind the hotel!

It was the perfect, weekend getaway.
