About the event

If you love swimming and you love supporting great causes, then I recommend you check out . , hosted by the MS Society of Western Australia is a 12-hour relay change held in Booragoon at the Melville Aquatic centre (25th September) and in Mt Claremont at Challenge Stadium (30th July). Teams compete to swim the furthest distance within a set 12 hour timeframe. Teams can be made of up to 12 people, and each team must have at least one swimmer in the water for the duration of the event.

The website mentions that while there are no rules on how participants swim the event, they must complete each 25 or 50 metre lap without using any floatation devices or aids (like flippers). Teams can rotate their swimmers every two or four laps as long as each swimmer in the team completes a minimum of five 50 metre laps (or equivalent).

Points are also awarded for funds raised, with one point awarded to teams per $25 raised. Each team's fundraising tally and distance swum is tallied at the end of the event, and the team with the highest number of combined points win. All proceeds go to the MS Society to help support those living with multiple sclerosis in Western Australia. This is an event you can get all of your friends, family or co-workers involved in, so let them know about this event as soon as you can. The sooner you get your teammates together, the sooner you can get training!
