Forget those trips to far and distant suburbs in search for that perfect dessert cafe/bar that serves the best forms of sweet goodness.
I found the Sweety Dessert Bar while casually strolling down Gougar Street one evening. It is carefully nestled upstairs and has quite a school-like staircase to the entrance. But don't be fooled by that appearance - it seemed to be the perfect spot for a quiet, romantic date.
Going there with my friend, we didn't know what to expect. However, we were quickly served by one of the friendly waitresses and ordered the chocolate lava cake with white and dark chocolate sauce as the base and strawberries served on the side.
The dish didn't take too long to arrive, and when it did, pleased us in terms of presentation and taste.
It looks like it's a fairly new establishment, with lots of space and simple, dark furniture and crystal-like curtains, which when coupled with dim lighting and candles on the table adds to that mysterious effect.
If you have a sweet tooth and are craving for some good and reasonably-priced sweet treats, I highly recommend this place.
I was really disappointed with Sweety. We found the desserts expensive compared to other (better in our opinion) places, we waited almost 45mins while the place was almost empty, and they were nice but nothing special.
But the location is great, and so easy after dinner on Gouger Street. I'm planning on going back to give them another chance, as we may have just had a bad night.
Went to Sweety last night and I really enjoyed the food. We were served quickly, the waitress was attentive, food was well presented and delicious. It is in a great location without the crowding and noise of many places on Gouger street. Would go again and would recommend it to others.
