A newcomer to Melbourne, I love exploring the city and sourrounds by day and night, finding bargains, learning new things, the great outdoors and Melbourne life in general.

Could this be your new local?
Vegan friendly pubs are no longer a novelty in Melbourne, but tend to be concentrated in Brunswick and Northcote. Now it's South Yarra's time. Long overdue and very welcome!

Sweetwater Inn is a new pub just off Chapel Street. It's small, kitsch and friendly. It seems to have built up a regular clientele and on a Wednesday evening all tables were reserved for diners. Luckily, we were able to take a bar stool. There is also outside street facing tables.

The menu is typical pub food; pies, sausages, sandwiches and chips. Not the healthiest of menus but something for meat eaters, vegetarians and vegans. We tried the vegan pie floater and the rissole sandwich.

Prices are on the expensive side considering the portion sizes are not overly- generous. However, this is in line with the location.

The highlight would have to be the lime cheesecake with Anzac biscuit base. Creamy and flavoursome and fortunately, large enough to share.

Table service was provided and staff were efficient and polite. I left having enjoyed a nice pub dinner and will be returning.
