There are so many top fish and chip shops around that it's hard to decide on where to get really decent fish and chips. If you are a lover of a good fish and chip meal then Sweetlips should definitely be on the top of your list.

Sweetlips has two Restaurant locations, one in Leederville and one in Fremantle and both places serve excellent fish and chips. Hot, fresh and crispy with fish so soft and tender that it falls apart – just the way it should be.

This place is very popular, always busy and the tables fill up quickly so it's a good idea to go early, when it's a bit quieter, especially if you plan to dine-in. There is seating indoors or if the weather is fine enjoy your meal in the alfresco area while you take in the view in a relaxed atmosphere.

The extensive menu at Sweetlips offers grilled, deep-fried and crumbed fish and seafood, all served with chips and some come with salad or dipping sauce.

Choose from a large variety of freshly caught fish and seafood - a regular sized serving of fish and chips will cost you $10.95 which is pretty reasonable and the servings are quite generous. There are also burgers and other snack type foods on the menu as well as salads and desserts. So there is something sure to suit everyone.

There are also 'to-share' items on the menu like the 'Seafood Basket' - fish and chips, squid rings, prawns and sea scallops for $18.50, 'Family Feast' - fish and chips, squid rings, dim sims, crab sticks and dipping sauces for $53.95 or a 'Pack for Two'- fish and chips, squid rings, fried fetta cheese and dipping sauce for $33.50. These packs give you more of a variety and are ideal to share with family or friends.

Sweetlips Fish and Chips stores are open 7 days a week from 10am till late so you have plenty of time to sample their delicious, and some would say 'the very best', fish and chips.

Whether you are dining in or plan to take-away, check out Sweetlips - there's something there for everyone.

If you want to try fish and chips from Sweetlips keep a look out for Shop-A-Dockets. There is an offer on at the moment - buy 1 regular fish and chips and receive another for $2.90.

This article has just reminded me to go and try this restaurant. It's been recommended to me before and I've forgotten to go, but I'm definitely going to give it a try now!

Sweetlips has deteriorated from what it used to be. A couple of years ago, you could be guaranteed of nothing but Australian fish on offer, and a wide range of salads, including coleslaw to go with your meal.

Now, the salads have been trimmed back to just one minimal Greek salad - and they are selling crap Asian fish, instead of Australian fish.

We went to Sweetlips in Leederville recently, and I ordered King Snapper (knowing it's local good quality fish).
My wife ordered Barramundi, thinking it was Northern Australian Barramundi - and she got served up crap Asian Barramundi that tasted foul.
She couldn't eat the fish, and she didn't enjoy her meal. Mine was O.K.

We are sick of fish shops that sell Asian-sourced fish which is poor quality, is bred in polluted waters, and which tastes rank.
When are we going to get some honesty from fish sellers?? They sell fish with any fancy name they can dream up, and it bears no resemblance to what it's supposed to be!

They sell shark and call it "Snapper" "Hake" is a wonderful term to describe any fish from anywhere - although it's mostly ordinary-tasting Blue Grenadier.

They sell "Snapper", and it's usually some unidentifiable Asian fish fillet. Imported Basa fish fillets are pure garbage, I wouldn't feed it to my cat!

"Nile Perch" comes from Lake Victoria in Africa - the most polluted patch of water in the world! The shores of Lake Victoria have constant outbreaks of cholera!

Why would you even want to buy fish from these areas? - when we are surrounded by 4 of the biggest Oceans in the world, that are pristine clean, and which produce fabulous-tasting fish!

I won't be buying from Sweetlips again until they can get honest about the imported rubbish they sell - and reduce their prices accordingly. Paying top dollar for imported rubbish fish fillets is not on!

I think one of the under rates fish and chips shops. While the big names in Fremantle get all the publicity, sweet lips flies under the radar. Personally, I think it is the best fish and chips in Perth.
