Connection through cupcakes
The sweet delight of a cupcake is enough to warm any heart and Sweethearts Cupcakes in Paddington are ready to create some sugary magic.
I don't need to be asked twice to enjoy a cupcake, so stopping off at Sweethearts during a recent visit was an easy decision.
Putting the Icing on the Cake Whether you know them as fairy cakes, patty cakes or cupcakes, their little morsels of frosted coated, baking beauties date back to 1796. While they have changed and developed over the decades, cupcakes remain a decadent, individual cake, small enough to sit in the palm of your hand.
This spongey morsel of yum also took its place in history when Marie-Antoinette, the queen of France during the French Revolution said, "Let Them Eat Cake," when she was told that her starving subjects had no bread-making her appear obliviousness to the conditions and daily lives of ordinary people.
Sweetheart Cupcakes was opened in February 2020 by Jo James and has bravely and boldly continued operating during what must have been a difficult first year.
What's On the Menu Stepping into the Sweethearts shop, you are immediately met by a selection of ready to go cupcakes in the display cabinet. The first cakes to grab my attention were the classic, butterfly cakes with smooth whipped cream, delicate cakes wings and a bright dollop of raspberry jam in the centre. They looked delicious but that was just the start of the delirious temptation.
Cakes can be ordered for life's special occasions like birthday parties, baby showers, weddings, or corporate events and personalised depending on your requirements. A full cake menu and booking request form can be found on their website.
Sweethearts Cupcakes are open 5 days (closed on Sundays and Mondays) and Paddington can be found 3.4kms from the Brisbane Central Business District What did I end up selecting? I walked away with the orange and almond cupcake, trying to kid myself that I was being just a little bit good.
