Don't underestimate the mischief these southern belles cause
Villanova Players Theatre Company is a community theatre group based in Morningside, Brisbane. Established in 1948 they have produced numerous plays and musicals across the years whilst nurturing the theatrical talents of Brisbane residents.
You can learn more here.

Their current production is The Sweet Delilah Swimming Club, a fast-moving story about five American women from the south, whose friendships began in the days when they were all members of a College swim team. Every August these women reconnect during a girl's weekend away at the same beach cottage, the "Sweet Delilah" in North Carolina.

What do these five women get up to during these girlie weekends? Everything that you would expect: drink, share secrets, dis husbands and children, and laugh. There are lots of laughs.

The Sweet Delilah Swim Club focuses on four of those weekends and spans a period of thirty-three years. Despite all of the women having different personalities and interests, their friendship is constant.

This production moves quickly provides lots of laughs with a touch of pathos and is good entertainment. I particularly enjoyed the simple yet authentic stage setting. Who hasn't visited a holiday cottage on the coast that doesn't house a Scrabble board and a jigsaw puzzle?

This production is showing at the Ron Hurley Theatre at 28 Tallowwood Street, Seven Hills which is a comfortable, intimate theatre space with plentiful onsite car parking facilities.
