offers far more than just cakes and tarts at their bustling Semaphore Road location, and in fact it was their freshly cooked breakfasts that I went there to investigate.

I assume that their baked goods are fabulous, as they now have a bakery location open in Findon too. However, I can confirm that they are well worth a visit for a more substantial meal.

Unfortunately, there's only one of me, so I was unable to taste everything that I would have liked to on their menu, which includes Swedish crepes, pancakes, traditional meals, and more standard sandwiches and flatbreads. I ended up with a three egg 'Farmer's' omelette, with smoked ham, potato and vegetables.

It was absolutely delicious, and enough to fill even my ravenous stomach. I would have preferred a healthier whole grain bread, but if you don't mind white, then the bread itself was great quality, with a good crunchy crust.
I also made up my own juice, with some help from the friendly staff, who advised me on the tartness of the lemon juice, and suggested I add something else to balance it. Our waitress was also most apologetic and friendly about informing us they couldn't put passionfruit on my friend's fruit salad, as they were out.

It was simply the size of my omelette that prevented me from leaving with one of the beautiful looking tarts to take home, but I know that next time I'll give in and try one.
Swedish Tarts Semaphore Road is a combination of a beautiful setting, lovely food and friendly staff. Make it your next breakfast or coffee destination, or swing by the Findon Road Bakery branch and let us know how it is!
