Note: As of 2014 the cruise is called Perth's Famous Wine Cruise. There is now only one stop, at Sandalford Estate, where a two course lunch is served, and wine tastings and a film and tour presentation is offered.

If you are a lover of fine wine then spending a day on a Swan Valley Wine Cruise is just right for you. Join your family and friends on one of the Captain Cook Cruises , and have one of the most enjoyable day trips in Perth, as you cruise up the Swan River to the Swan Valley.

The Swan Valley Wine Cruise sets off at 9.45am, on board one of the Captain Cook Tour Boats, enjoying morning tea as you set off. Then sit back, relax and take in the beautiful views as you sample premium Western Australian wines from the prestigious local wineries.

The first stop is the Sandalford Estate Winery one of Western Australia's oldest and largest privately owned wineries. Founded in 1840, Sandalford Estate produces some of the best award winning Western Australian wines every year.

Reboarding the boat you will again sample different wines as you cruise back downstream towards the next destination.

[ADVERT]Next stop is the Waters Edge Winery , where a delicious three course luncheon is served, consisting of entree, main meal and dessert, all served with complimentary red and white Waters Edge Wines. After lunch take a tour of the oldest underground wine cellar in Western Australia.

Back on board the boat again you will be able to taste plenty more wine on the journey home. There is some on-board entertainment so you can relax and have some fun, or just take in the scenery and listen to the sounds of river.

At both the Sandalford Estate Winery and the Waters Edge Winery you will have the chance to taste and purchase some outstanding wines.

This wine cruise is a great day trip to a couple of the best wineries in Western Australia. A unique trip that you won't forget and it's a really good cruise to take if you have people from overseas or interstate visiting.

If you would prefer a half day cruise the Captain Cook Tours also runs a Swan Valley Lunch Cruise. Setting off at 1.15pm, a delicious buffet style luncheon is served as you cruise the Swan River towards the Swan Valley winery region.

When you arrive at the Waters Edge Winery you will be shown into the underground wine cellar where you will be able to sample and purchase some first class wines. Reboarding the boat for the trip home, afternoon tea, coffee and cake is served or make use of the bar facilities during the journey.

Captain Cook Cruises have been operating for over 25 years and run a variety of different day and evening river cruises around the Perth area, so check out the website for full details of all the cruises available. The staff are friendly and the captain's commentary is very informative, they will keep you entertained for the whole journey.

We have been on a couple of these winery tours and they really are great fun and a fantastic day out. The atmosphere is jolly and friendly, the views are brilliant and even the food is good. Prices vary depending on which cruise you take and some may seem a bit pricy but remember the price includes not just the cost of the scenic river cruise but also the cost of all the food and wines during the whole trip.

The tours can be a family affair and children are welcome or go with a group of friends, and even though the wine is pretty free-flowing you don't have to get drunk to enjoy yourself.
