As a new mum, coming up with nice places to take my little one to explore a world of firsts can be a bit daunting. I really wanted to take my girl to an animal farm, but was anxious to find a place where the animals were happy and healthy and accustomed to over excited children still learning the concept of 'gentle'.
On the recommendation of a friend, we ventured to the Cuddly Animal Farm in the Swan Valley one rainy afternoon after a lunch nearby.
Greeted by a white pony on arrival, we paid our entry fee, were given a happy run down on rules (what to pat, what not to touch) grabbed a few buckets of feed and were able to wander around.
As expected the excitement was a bit too much for our little one and she was a bit overzealous with her patting, but the beautiful little animals didn't even flinch as we made our way through the various cages, feeding and patting (or in her case, excitedly grabbing furry bunnies).
There were groups of birthday parties underway, a bouncy castle that was so much fun, a milking display with a resident goat, even the rain didn't dampen our spirits (though it did mean we missed out on tractor rides and the carousel that operate when the sun is shining). There are outdoor paddocks to wander through and you really get a sense that the people who work here do it for love.
