So you're looking to make some eco changes to your house but not sure where to start? Wanting to save some money by installing eco technology in your pad? Or just curious to look inside some seriously cool houses? Then you need to check out some of the fabulous houses that are open to the public on Sustainable House Day.
Sustainable House day will be held on Sunday 13 September 2015. The day aims to open the door to sustainable living by inviting the public to visit over 200 of Australia's most environmentally progressive homes. These homes include urban, rural, retrofit, purpose-built and owner-builder properties.
Everyone will be able to gain inspiration and ideas for sustainable living.
Houses will be open right throughout Australia. Check the website for
open house lists .
There will also be many ancillary events being held including:
Lismore City Council : is running a 2015 Sustainable Housing for Life Design Competition. It is is open to residents, architects, designers and young people in the Northern Rivers
North Sydney Council : you can take a tour of the Coal Loader and learn about the sustainability features of the site. Join architect Andy Marlow, from Envirotecture, and learn about the sustainable technologies and design features used in the building
City of Port Phillip : will be opening the Mary Kehoe Centre (in Albert Park) on Sustainable House Day this year so you can learn how they made this building energy positive.
