All the major celebrities come to Surfers Paradise, last year it was Peppa Pig, this year The Minions from Despicable Me are coming especially for Kids Week - the annual FREE family festival. It will run from Saturday 19th September to Friday 25th September and will be jam-packed full of shows, activities, workshops, rides and attractions.
Presented by Surfers Paradise Marriott Resort & Spa, the Foreshore comes alive with tonnes of things to keep kids of all ages entertained these school holidays. Whatever they enjoy, you will find something to keep them occupied and happy - from bouncy castles, climbing walls and shows to educational workshops and arts and crafts.
There will be daily shows with The Minions at 11am and 1pm, plus a meet & greet at midday where you can get up close and personal for a cool photo! Plus there will be other special guest stars too - look out for Bugs Bunny, Barbie, Blinky Bill, Banana's in Pyjamas, and Ronald McDonald!
Events and activities will kick off around 10am daily and run throughout the day till around 6:30pm. The full programme hasn't been released yet, but it's worth downloading when it is so you don't miss the shows and character appearances.
It's a really popular event as you would expect being free, but there is loads to do and apart from the shows, everything is pretty spread out along the beach front, so its not too manic. Last year the shows were pretty packed out, but there are plenty of covered seats at the main stage. My daughter was 9 months at the time, and although she loved Peppa Pig, it was a little loud for her with lots of noisy and very excitable kids. This year I'm sure she will love seeing The Minions.
My stepdaughter was 5 when we went last year, she loved all the physical stuff such as the climbing wall and bouncy castle. Plus there was other stuff such as areas for kids to get creative on the pavement using huge chalk sticks - simple and easy but loads of fun.
Fun By The Beach
So if you are looking for September school holiday ideas, then Surfers Paradise Kids Week has got it covered. Bring the family for a free, fun family festival. Plus who doesn't love those cheeky Minions.
