New and Halloween inspired, Surfers Paradise Fest-Evil runs over 3 days from 26-28 October 2018, so come if you dare, costumed to scare. With free and ticketed events all along the foreshore and Cavill Mall over the weekend, it's a fun dress-up event for the whole family, culminating with the Surfers Paradise Zombie Walk fundraiser.
Ticket packages are designed with your enjoyment in mind and ticket holders will receive a Fest-Evil Pack (contains t-shirt and club night pass) and discounts at named local businesses, plus more. With prices ranging from $30-$40, check details on the website. Your Zombie Walker or Night Stalker tickets support the Brain Foundation for research into brain disorders and injuries, some of the biggest causes of death and disability in the community. The Event Program runs from 4-9pm on the Friday (26 Oct), 11am to 11.30pm on Saturday and 11am to 9pm on Sunday. The Halloween Markets run on all days, along with many other events running throughout the weekend. If you're entering the Cosplay Competition, or the Zombie Walk King & Queen Cosplay Comp, don't forget to register at dates, times and venues listed on the program, and read the rules and regulations of the prop weapons policy.

With cash prizes ranging from $500-$1000, and additional prizing for 2nd and 3rd place donated by Dracula's Cabaret Gold Coast, Helm Bar & Bistro, One Cavill Beach Bar, The Avenue and VMAX, it's well worth dressing your best, or worst? The kids don't miss out either with 2 categories eg.12 years and under and the 13-17 year olds, for the Costume Character Comp. With cash prizes for the older category and donated prizes for the younger, come in your best character costume, most original or silliest costume or spookiest costume. The most impressive family or group gets $200 cash prize, so mum and dads, get involved.
The Undead Ball on Saturday 27 Oct from 8pm to 3am; 3-15 Orchid Ave, Surfers Paradise (tickets here), draws inspiration from the grandeur of a Venetian Court with the elegance of a Burlesque cabaret. Call them the Sophisticated Undead, so dress to impress as a creature of the night. DJ Matt Kitshon features and the Nightstalker VIP all Access Pass for $40 includes entry to the Danse Macabre Club Night, the Zombie Walk, eligibility to register for comps, the fest-evil pack and lots more. The accepted dress code is Elizabethan, Steampunk, Edwardian, Baroque, Victorian, Pagan, Leather, Industrial, Gothic, Lolita, Masquerade, Feudal, Medieval & Vampire themes.
There's a lot to look forward to with free live shows for the whole family in Cavill Mall, roving zombies, vampires and impromptu dance performances, the markets, the competitions, in-venue events, including zombie escape rooms at Padlock'd Escape Rooms and Night at the Horrorseum with Ripley's Believe it or Not! Odditorium, over 18 Halloween parties including Infectious Halloween at One Cavill Beach Bar, discounts at local attractions, restaurants and nightclubs and trick or treating at Surfers Paradise shopping centres.
That's not all. Kids can practice their Zombie Shuffle for the Walk, and learn electrifying dance moves to MJ's Thriller, at a kid friendly show in Cavill Mall. The youn-uns also have the Ooky Spooky Magic Show on Saturday 27 and Drax 4 Kids on Sunday 28. With a host of events, look forward to the fire eating, angle grinding, singing Voodoo Revue set to thrill crowds on the Friday night free feature show. Halloween fans should head down to purchase their scary wares and get their horror makeup by special fx makeup artists at the Markets.
