An emporium of youthful, trendy clothing awaits budget-conscious fashionistas at the
Supre Clearance Outlet in
Broadmeadows. Set up like a cross between a warehouse and the retail store frequented by teen girls, dance music blares through the industrial-looking building filled with endless racks of clothes.
While the older stock is the most heavily discounted, you can expect to find newer pieces at the outlet. Set up roughly in price order, the cheapest items are closest to the entrance with the costs slowly increasing as you meander through, culminating in a small section of full-priced stock in the back corner. While you may not intend to visit this section on your trip to the clearance centre, you could well end up there accidentally as the change-rooms are also located in this corner.
The amount you can expect to save varies greatly depending on what sales are on. One recent sale was that you could select anything you want from a certain section, put it into a
Supre bag and take the lot for $25. Another was the 'nothing over $5' weekend, at which I managed to buy $315 worth of clothes for under $50. At other times, the stock is merely half price. Current promotions are often advertised on the radio, or you can call to check what they are offering at the moment. Prices start at $2.50, so you don't have to spend a fortune to obtain a whole new wardrobe.
The outlet is located in an industrial area away from the shopping centre, but don't despair that you won't find it. On the way there, you will see several huge signs proclaiming its direction. The outlet is a walkable twenty minutes from
Broadmeadows Railway Station, or it has its own car-park if you are driving.
The only downside to the clearance outlet is the long waits in line for the change-rooms and to have your sale processed, with few staff on hand to serve the many customers. However, it is certainly worth the wait for the savings to be had.
