If you are looking for an interesting and entertaining read or two to get you through the summer holidays, then look no further than these fabulous offerings.

SOCIAL CREATURE by TARA ISABELLA BURTON

This is a mesmerising tale which really hits home in this day of social media being a tool for so many seeking the approval of others. Louise is a struggling newcomer to the city who meets Lavinia, a wealthy social butterfly who is seen at the places to be with the people to be seen with. Lavinia takes Louise under her wing and very soon Louise is drawn into a world of which she has never seen the likes of before and she may never be able to live happily without. The story draws you in from the beginning, and this is such an absorbing read that I read this book in one day!

HIPPIE by PAULO COELHO

I just could not love Paulo Coelho's writing any more than I do. His newest book Hippie is another wonderfully written story, based on his own trek through the hippie trail to Nepal. As I find with all of Paulo's books, the story flows beautifully and entertains while teaching you a few things on the way.

ALL THE GOOD THINGS by CLARE FISHER

Every so often a book comes along full of uplifting moments along with the sad. This book is one of those consuming reads which keep you wondering where the story is heading. We are drawn into Beth's predicament, finding out that she is in prison for a crime we are not as yet privy too. Beth meets regularly with her prison counsellor and is asked to complete a journal with the aim of Beth being able to write about the positive things to live for. The journal takes on a new direction giving us an iintoight of the events leading up to the "bad thing" which caused Beth to go to jail.

ELEANOR OLIPHANT IS COMPLETELY FINE by GAIL HONEYMAN

This is such a well written and moving story about the title character Eleanor Oliphant. Eleanor is living her routine everyday life in a regular and efficient manner without any close relationships in her life. A life-changing event brings Eleanor together with a selection of people who integrate into her life which is a new experience for her. Alongside this happening, the story also weaves between Eleanor's present and her tragic past.

I must admit this book was hard for me to put down and as soon as I could pick it up again - I did!

BUTTERFLY ON A PIN by ALANNAH HILL

Australian designer Alannah Hill is well known for her fashion, but this book delves into her beginnings in a small town in Tasmania with a troubled family life and follows her journey into becoming the successful businesswoman she has become.

A fascinating read!

I hope you enjoy your Summer reading!
