Super Hero Train
Wed 04 Oct 2017
Are you faster than a speeding locomotive? Well, let's see. Kids are being invited to dress up as their favourite superhero for a very special, super hero themed train ride courtesy of the Heritage listed Mornington Railway these September school holidays - and you never know who is going to fly or swing into action along the way.
Villains beware. There's a high possibility an adult sized caped crusader or comic book hero will be making a special guest appearance aboard the Mornington Railway during the day, perhaps seeking a side kick or two in their mission to save the world. No doubt there will be plenty of enthusiastic, colourfully costumed volunteers.
Kids of all ages enjoy riding in carriages – some up to 100 years old - along the 5km former Victorian Railways Branch line. Hauled by either the carefully preserved K Class steam locomotive or Heritage diesel locomotive, the Mornington Railway rides are popular year round with locals and visitors alike. Run by a dedicated band of volunteers, this precious piece of railroading history offers a unique travelling experience, and in addition to special themed days can be enjoyed most weekends on a Sunday and even booked for parties and private functions.
As it's school holidays, extra activities will be provided for kids and costumes are firmly encouraged on Super Hero Day to add to the colour and fun of the theme.[BREAK]
The will run twice during the September school holidays, firstly on on Wednesday 27th September then again on Wednesday 4th October 2017. The train travels between the Moorooduc and Mornington railway stations starting at 11am right through to the last train at 3.30pm. Trains leave every 90 minutes and a full timetable, including additional stations, is available on the Mornington Railway website,
which you will find by following the link here.
Tickets are priced at $20 per adult return, $15 concession return, $10 for kids aged 4 to 16 return, $55 for a family of 4 and one-way tickets are also available for a reduced rate. Tickets can be purchased online through the Mornington Railway website or bought directly from the booking office on the day.
The Moorooduc Station is located at 460 Moorooduc Highway, Moorooduc and there is ample free parking.
