The skies will have an extra shade of red this May as the visits over the world bringing a rare astrological moment for us to share.

Earth will pass between the Sun and the Moon, blocking sunlight and casting a shadow on the lunar surface. While timing depends on your location, the partial eclipse phase of the moon eclipse begins May 15 at 10:28 p.m. EDT (0228 GMT on May 16). It will get to the red-hued Blood Moon peak May 16 at 12:11 a.m. EDT (0411 GMT). The event ends at 1:55 a.m. EDT (0555 GMT). The penumbral eclipse will begin about an hour earlier and end about an hour after the partial eclipse.

During this phase, the moon appears a rustier orange or red, depending on the nature of the atmosphere at the time of the eclipse.

You can even tune in to NASA's live stream this weekend to catch the total lunar eclipse. By joining in, you can hear from NASA experts to learn about this incredible natural phenomenon, look through telescope views across the world and hear about plans to return humans to the lunar surface with the Artemis program.

It is understood to be safe to view a lunar eclipse with the naked eye. So don't miss out on this unusual event to see the Super Flower Blood Moon when it comes to visit.
