Supanova is returning to the Gold Coast and the countdown is now on! Each year the Supanova crew outdo themselves with a line up of artists that every generation will relate to. An event guide has now been released and Supanova fans are eagerly planning their days around their favourite television and movie superheroes.
Let me begin with some parental advice: do NOT drop your kids and run. Supanova is too awesome to miss out on. Even I was transformed from a groaning 'how long will this take' parent into a 'wow- when is the next Supanova?!' in one event!
Remember the hypnotic character Spike from Buffy the Vampire Slayer? That is actor and musician James Marsters. He will be performing a concert at only two venues: Melbourne and Gold Coast on the Saturday at 6.30pm in the Cosplay Theatre. Tickets can be pre-purchased via Moshtix with a small discount or at the door on the day. Given the numbers at last year's Supanova, I would suggest pre-purchasing of any tickets required to ensure a quick entry and Supa-joy on the day.
As a parent I was very happy with product pricing which included many bargains. Prices on some items were below online price.
There is not only loads of action down in the main area of the Gold Coast Convention and Exhibition Centre but also upstairs in the well utilised conference rooms. Last year I viewed a few episodes of Attack on Titan: the story of a young Eren Jaegar ridding the world of the human devouring Titans; one Titan at a time. I was mesmerised by the use of politics and philosophy throughout the series, and came away with a new sense of value for Japanese anime for family entertainment.
This year on the Gold Coast there is another form of transport to the venue: trams. I would highly recommend starting your day this way and relax as there is a stop just outside the convention centre. Parking is also available directly underneath the venue. Last year's price was $10 which was reasonable given the accessibility to the venue.
Last year's League of Legends tournament was a huge drawcard for fans and newbies alike.
Cosplay is a Supanova highlight. Please follow the link to register for this alter-ego extravaganza which, last year, caused slight panic from Gold Coast residents who were unsure of alien invasion or the commandoes seemingly trailing these lifeforms.
The Supanova social media crew are..well..very social! So say hello and propel a query or two at light speed their way on Twitter, Facebook, Tumblr and Instagram.
Food is available at the venue but local restaurants join in the fun giving families and holiday makers variety and a break from sup-awesome-overload.
