The 2012-2013 CAMS Australian Targa championship comprises 4 rounds starting with Supaloc Targa Adelaide in August, with three more rounds following in Victoria and Tasmania. It comes hot on the heels of the recent Scouts SA rally held on July 27-29.
The Lamborghini Gallardo Tests the Track @ Adelaide Showgrounds
While the Rally is primarily of interest to motorsport fans, there will be a much wider appeal for the opening event on August 22 - an exciting night stage held at at the Adelaide Showgrounds on a course optimised for spectator viewing.
The closing event will also be hugely popular - a street party on Gouger St with an opportunity to get up close to the rally cars.
This year's rally event kick-starts with the InterContinental Adelaide Targa Night Stage and Targa Expo on Wednesday night August 22nd at the Adelaide Showgrounds.
Starting at 6pm, the field of 150 cars will do staged laps of a 1.5km course specifically designed to give spectators the best view of the cars. Each car will pass the grandstand area twice to give you the opportunity to see your favourite vehicles close up.
After the stage event has completed there will be a Targa Expo inside the Goyder Pavilion giving all the family a chance to get up close to the cars and drivers.
Entry will cost $10 for adults with children 12 and under admitted free. Parking facilities will be available on Rose Tce.
Each day the Targa cars will set out from Adelaide Showgrounds between 7.30 and 8.30, depending on scheduled road closure times. At the end of the day the cars will return to the Showgrounds.

Obviously if you are NOT into rallying, you should avoid the locations below if possible because of traffic restrictions and congestion.
All the racing will take place in the Adelaide Hills, but the actual locations will change daily:
Thursday - Chain of Ponds/Gumeracha area
Friday - Mt Lofty/Stirling area
Saturday - Upper Sturt/Mt Barker area
Sunday - Basket Range/Clarendon area
The race finale will happen in the city with cars crossing the finish line in Gouger Street.
The Parade Targafest Street Party
The City of Norwood Payneham & St Peters has announced that it will host the 2012 Supaloc Targa Adelaide Street Party on The Parade, Norwood, on Friday 24 August 2012.
From 6pm to 9pm motorsport lovers will have the opportunity to get up close and personal with over 150 extraordinary cars, meet the drivers and to enjoy an evening of live entertainment, street performances, alfresco dining and a fun family atmosphere.
The Gouger Street Targa festival
The Gouger Street Targa festival on Sunday will enable families from all over Adelaide to participate in the street party and see the massed vehicle display.
