The
Silos in Sunshine will no longer be silent. They'll be coming to life at the
Sunshine Silos Projection Festival on
Saturday 16 November 2019 from 4pm to 11pm at
J R Parsons Reserve ,
12 Stanford St, Sunshine and you're all invited to this
FREE event.
Brought to you by the
Victorian State Government through the
Pick My Project initiative, this is a celebration of the arts,
Sunshine's rich industrial history and cultural diversity, with the side effect of rejuvenating a much loved landmark that paves the way for other commercial opportunities.
Brimbank City Council and
residents have partnered up to make the iconic
Silos as the centrepiece for a program of art, live music and performances and projections designed by
Little Projector Company . Kids activities abound, along with roving performers, and food trucks; for what is a celebration without food and drink. Enjoy this drug and alcohol free with the whole family and friends.
As you can see from the poster above, there's a plethora of entertainment organised just for you. Once darkness takes hold, the
silos will be lit up with more than 1000 artworks and animations and the
Reserve will take on a
Festival vibe. What a great way to hang out with neighbours, family and friends in an atmosphere akin to a block party.
Aurora Kurth will
MC the event. A highly sought after entertainer, she's renown for her sublime vocals, cheeky comedy and sharp wit.
Kinematic , an
Aussie four-piece
indie pop band will be sharing their music with the local community amongst other musicians. A bit of trivia fact; lead singer Michael is a Sunshine resident for over a decade.
Fandata Studios will be running their
EscriVento workshop; a creative constructive project aimed to build flying gifts to the skies. Under the guidance of
Ana Rita Pires & Mito Elias, visual artists and community arts practitioners, children will create
kite gifts that'll resemble mini parachutes and symbolically carry a personal message from each participant. This activity will allow the kids to send special messages to their neighbourhood, or neighbour, friend, family etc.
Ana Rita and Mito have a vast experience in working with youth and diverse community groups.
Chow down on
Sticks & Bones Barbecue cooked in a custom-made smoker or
Crêpes for Change who are changing the world one
crêpe at a time.
Crêpes for Change exist to raise crucial funds to support young people at-risk-of ,or currently experiencing homelessness, to exit the cycle. This social enterprise model is tackling one of society's huge problems, so show your support. As you can see, this is not an event to be missed so come out in droves and really celebrate Sunshine! Stay in touch with updates as they come to hand via the Festival's links given above.
