Knowing full well that if I didn't have something to eat, my grocery shop would become an absolute nightmare, with me becoming more disgruntled by the minute and on top of that, probably spending double my budget (one tends to do this, when you're hungry) by adding everything except the kitchen sink into the trolley.
Coffee Taster's Flavour Wheel
I decided to give Merlo Coffee an opportunity to impress - they're new to the Sunshine Plaza, did you know that? And extremely convenient to Coles, right outside the front door, so one doesn't have to venture too far to ease the grumbling tummy.
Being a Sunday morning - Coles opens at nine in the morning, I was pleasantly surprised to see that Merlo Coffee was up and running and ready to serve their early morning customers.
I decided on a toastie (nothing elaborate you understand) as I needed to get the shopping done, so ham, cheese and tomato was the order of the day for me, with a skinny latte.
Ham, cheese and tomato toastie with skinny latte
The staff were extremely pleasant (considering they're all young and probably only had an hour or two sleep from a Saturday night out), extremely efficient - our order was delivered in record time and I must say it was exactly what the 'doctor had ordered'. The bread they use is absolutely yum when toasted, the coffee is strong (probably strong enough to grow hairs on your teeth), but all in all a very pleasant experience.
Freshly Roasted Daily
So, when you realise that sometimes 'life' takes over and you forget one of your important meals of the day, give Merlo Coffee at the Sunshine Plaza a visit - you'll be so glad you did!
