Impromptu adventuring, exploring our backyard and then putting pen to paper, hoping to entice you to try one, if not all, of our escapades, is my true reward!
Event: -
Enjoy Mother Natures floral bounty

I know we haven't really had a winter yet on the Sunshine Coast - last year we had it on a Tuesday - but I just know we are all on the same page, when it comes to being full of the joys of Spring, as she peeps her pretty little head around the corner, ready to shower us with gorgeously coloured blossoms, slightly 'warmer' weather and some outdoor adventuring.

And, much to my delight it's once again time for the annual Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival, signifying the celebration of the wondrous display of wildflowers we have on the Sunshine Coast. Since the Wildflower Festival's humble beginnings in 1967, this Festival has grown and a huge thanks should be directed to the support and enthusiasm of local community groups, who host the fascinating outdoor activities.

For two whole weeks, from Saturday 17 August to Sunday 1 September, we have the unique opportunity to discover the diversity of native, flowering plants in our local environment. To guarantee that readers don't miss out on getting out and about to enjoy Mother Nature's floral bounty with the onset of Spring, this is a guide to what's happening, where and when. Wallum Wedge Pea

When enjoying the outdoors it's important to be prepared, so here are some recommendations:

Wear comfortable protective clothing;
Slip, slap, slop some sunscreen. Insect repellant for wet areas is a great idea;
Wear a hat;
Wear closed-in footwear suitable for the activity;
Most trails are soft sand so care and a reasonable level of  fitness will be required;
Pack wet weather gear in case it rains;
Bring a bottle of water and a snack;
Bring your binoculars for bird watching activities;
Many Wallum areas are often waterlogged, so if you have gum boots, bring them along; and
Don't forget the camera!

Bookings are absolutely essential for the FREE Sunshine Coast Wildflower Festival Guided Walks and Activities, particularly as spaces are limited and no additional participants can be catered for on these walks.
