Running alone through your local streets can be boring. Hitting the treadmill in the gym is even worse. Don't give up your dreams of a fit, new you just yet. Get some help, sign up to the Sunshine Coast Run Series this year to give yourself a real challenge. Meet plenty of like minded people, prove yourself against others and see just how much you can improve in this six race series.

This year, races will be held in and around the Noosa Springs Golf and Spa , at the University of the Sunshine Coast and Point Cartwright at Buddina between late February and late July. Point Cartwright and Buddia Beach especially are an absolute treat to run around. You get some fantastic views of the coastline from the headland in both directions.

There are plenty of options for course length available on each race day. It's up to you whether you want to run the the 2km, 5km or 10km distances. Age groups for the series are under 20s, 21-39, 40-59 and 60 . It should be noted that children aged 7-12 can only enter the 2km or 5km events, while children under 7 can take part in the 2km event, so long as they're accompanied by a paying adult.

If you sign up for the entire series prior to race one, you'll save up to $35. Signing up for the 2km will cost $75, 5km for $100 and 10km for $175. Plus, you'll receive a free run shirt worth $60. If you're just coming across this after a couple of races have already been held, don't despair - entry into the single race will cost you $15 for 2km, $20 for 5km and $35 for the 10km.

With any running race that you have to pay for, you've always got some voice in your head telling you to not bother and just go out yourself and do it for free. But I guarantee you that on your own, you won't be as determined, focused and organised, as you would be if you sign up for the run series. It's perfect for beginners who need that extra push and motivation to get them going, and of course, great for the die hard competitors who love to show their stuff off. It's also a great way to gauge your fitness throughout the first half of the year, all results are recorded here so you can see just how well you've improved.

The Sunshine Coast is home to some fantastic fitness festivals, each with short distance runs. But this is one of the only organised groups on the Coast that's run (no pun intended) this well and on various dates. Come find that motivation you've been looking for or just show off how fast you are by signing up today.
