Four fabulous days of fun and learning on the Sunshine Coast

Journeys Worldwide invites photography enthusiasts of all skill levels to join their upcoming Sunshine Coast Photographic Retreat this spring.

This COVID-Safe four day retreat will see a small group (maximum of 18) visit Sunshine Coast's world-renowned natural attractions and receive personalised onsite tuition from two expert photographers, Malcolm Pendlebury and Richard Bassett AAPS PSQA, who will also be your hosts for your stay.

This is a special opportunity to immerse yourself in the Sunshine Coast's pristine beaches, lush natural rainforests and picture-perfect waterfalls, whilst taking part in real-life photo shoots and learning to take incredible imagery with basic gear. Discover how to get the perfect exposure in one shot, explore manual mode, learn to light and pose, expose and compose and so much more!

Your photography adventure begins on 28th September at Aquila Retreat, a 1,200m2 boho-luxe mansion, boasting stunning, sweeping views to Moreton Island and the Glasshouse Mountains. You will meet Malcolm and Richard, plus the rest of the group, for lunch and a briefing on the activities of the next couple of days.

After lunch, you will check into your luxurious room and then Malcolm and Richard will lead you through the first of their planned activities.

Over 29th & 30th September, you will spend time on the surrounding ten beautiful acres with many photographic opportunities and go over images, critiquing and processing. There will also be visits to neighbouring sites like Buderim waterfall, the beach, and the Maroochydore spit to capture surf, boats, and then the night lights.

On the final day of the retreat, 1st October, you will spend the morning exploring and taking photos on the property, receive some last-minute advice and ideas from Malcolm and Richard, before heading off home again before lunch.

If you wish, you can extend your retreat by spending more time in the area, travelling up the coast to Noosa or even further north, or go west into the Hinterland and the vast array of offerings out there. The team at Journeys Worldwide, as well as Malcolm and Richard, will be happy to offer some tailored suggestions to ensure you have a memorable experience.

What's great about the Sunshine Coast Photographic Retreat is that partners are welcome, even if they are not keen on photography, as there will be a lot to keep them entertained. From spas and shopping to micro-breweries and surfing, or they can just relax and enjoy the premises.
