Oh, gosh, who doesn't love a market! We all do! But, what sets one market apart from the others? What makes it more appealing than all the others, its point of difference? I believe in this instance … the location and the charitable purpose behind the
Sunshine Coast Forest Market at Bloomhill Cancer Care in Buderim.
Imagine … a market set in lush green rainforest exuding tranquillity and serenity and … unbusyness! A fabulous unrushed and calming environment to browse and shop at leisure! Well, that's exactly what Bloomhill Cancer Care have achieved with their new once-a-month market, the
Sunshine Coast Forest Market.
The
Sunshine Coast Forest Market is held on the first Saturday of every month. Stallholders are spoilt with enviable site location choices, with stalls set up throughout the flourishing gardens as well as welcoming, boutique-like indoor spots, allowing enthusiastic market-goers an unhampered opportunity to stroll and browse.
What can market-goers look forward to -
Very fresh produce, plants and flowers
Hot food, deli items and beverages
Healthy living and wellness stalls
Local artisans with home-made jams and preserves, wooden toys, baked goodies and jewellery
Sustainable, recycled, vintage and quality pre-loved items
Kids playground and creative space
On-site Cafe offering delectable speciality coffee plus catering for the 'munchies'
Fabulously relaxing entertainment
Highly accomplished harpist, Christina Hanley, was one of the entertainers at the
Sunshine Coast Forest Market on the day we visited.
With plenty of in-ground parking and street parking, market-goers are well provided for. If looking for a parking spot is not your idea of 'fun' for a Saturday morning, a shuttle service is offered that runs to/from the Buderim Central Carpark in Lindsay Road.
For keen stallholders, wanting to put their 'stamp' on this fabulous market,
bookings and enquiries can be made to 0409 611 675; or via email: [email protected].
A bit of background on Bloomhill Cancer Care
Set in ten acres of spectacular rainforest in Buderim, the Bloomhill Cancer Care is a local-for-purpose, charity. The Centre's focus is to create a calm and relaxing atmosphere for every visitor. Many clients working through a cancer diagnosis refer to Bloomhill as their sanctuary and lifeline.
As a day centre, Bloomhill works together with a client's medical team, through a nurse-led model of care. This client-centred approach combines a range of health and wellbeing services, through allied health support and evidence based complementary therapies. Support is provided at the time of diagnosis, during treatment, into the survivorship phase, working with reoccurrence or during palliation.
The
Bloomhill Cancer Care Centre supports the
whole family, understanding full well that the impact of a cancer diagnosis and treatment extends well beyond the patient. This support is provided to partners, carers and children of those with cancer.
Bloomhill also offer a volunteer transport, shopping and buddy service to help clients access medical care and treatment for cancer related issues.
With no ongoing government funding to support the clinical services offered, Bloomhill's social enterprise business model enriches the community on many levels. The quality of life for many Sunshine Coasters is improved with more than five hundred volunteers generously providing workforce hours to support Bloomhill's operations. Income for the subsidisation of Bloomhill's clinical services is raised through the following avenues:
Bloomhill's eleven Op Shops throughout the Sunshine Coast
Fees from stallholders at the weekly Cotton Tree Markets and no doubt, from the Sunshine Coast Forest Market now too
Business sponsorship, community donations and bequests
Community events held throughout the year, such as Jazz & Shiraz, the Bloomhill Race Day, Bras 'n Bikes and the Next Property Group charity auction
The
Sunshine Coast Forest Market is a magical blend of uniqueness, 'nature-al' surrounds and a committed sense of purpose, which makes it an all-round winner in my eyes. And judging by the high quality of stallholders on offer, will grow from strength to strength. With Christmas but a few months away, eager wannabe stallholders need to jump on this bandwagon as soon as possible, to ensure a dedicated spot for the Festive Season. The
Sunshine Coast Forest Market is definitely the new up-and-coming market on the Sunshine Coast.
