If you missed your chance to nab a filly at this year's Magic Millions then don't despair, there's always another way to get in the winner's circle and it's all for a good cause.
Sunday the 3rd April will see the third annual
Sunshine Coast Duck Race get underway in Cornmeal Creek at Sunshine Plaza. Cheaper than a horse and with no training required you can pick yourself up a bargain from $5. Why not increase your odds and adopt a whole flock?
A community charity event run by the Rotary Club of Mooloolaba and Sunshine Plaza, monies raised will this year support major beneficiaries, The Longreach Drought Appeal and
Headspace in Maroochydore.
The family fun day kicks off at 10am with live music and entertainment around Sunshine Plaza Central Stage area and competitions in front of the Riverside Bar and Grill. There's a childrens'
colouring in competition and if fashions on the field set your heart aflutter then start decorating now for the Best Dressed Duck hat contest.
The main event will be a spectacle with 5,000 little ducks released into the creek jostling for position at the mercy of wind and tide. There's not a lot of skill but a whole lot of luck. First across the line will take out line honours and a first place prize of $1,000. Prizes are also awarded for second and third, Naughty Duck, Last Duck and 10 Lucky Ducks!
Duck adoptions and tickets are available
online now. It's sure to be a great family day out. You'd be quackers to miss it.
