Situated on the Lower East Side, the
is a popular local favourite – and the reasons why people fall in love with this cinema are all to clear. Its old façade is perhaps a telling sign of the fact that this cinema, unlike its contemporaries, plays a variety of old films along with the new. The also caters for a diverse range of film palates, as the list of features includes some more mainstream titles along with a selection of independent and foreign films.
The building was originally a Yiddish vaudeville house before it became used as a hardware warehouse. It was then eventually restored as a cinema and currently houses five screens in total. The modern restoration also included many stylish additions such as a Japanese rock garden.
The interior of the is nothing short of alluring. The large window panes provide wonderful views and create atmosphere in the lobby areas. Meanwhile, the high ceilings with their exposed beams, add character to the cinemas themselves. The seating inside is also terrific – ample, spacious and very comfortable.

Katz's Delicatessen alone is popular with tourists, namely due to its appearance in films such as 'When Harry Met Sally.' Yet to the relief of locals and serious cinema lovers, the same crowd that come to visit Katz's Delicatessen do not often venture the extra blocks to the . It is therefore a wonderful place to enjoy a movie in peace, as the clientele are generally people who see going to the cinema as an event itself, rather than the second half of a night out.
The cinema also sells DVDs at the ticket booth, so that patrons may continue the cinematic experience at home. It is of course a great place to find independent and foreign titles. Additionally, a mixed selection of classic and gourmet movie treats is available to complete the movie-going experience at the .
