The City of Stonnington's Sunset Sounds are ready to fill the air for your entertainment. Live music for free, for all to enjoy at various parks and gardens. Grab family and friends; perhaps take a picnic and enjoy leisurely evenings at Victoria Gardens (5 Jan), Central Park (12 Jan) and Malvern Gardens (19 Jan). What a great way to see some of Australia's best emerging talent and established performers while celebrating summer in our City.
First up is Victoria Gardens on Sunday the 5th of Jan 2020 from 5-8pm at 363-381 High Street (between High & Murray Streets), Prahran. Headliners for the evening are Billy Davis and The Good Lords, with support from Tanya George. Listen to unique blends of hip hop and RnB from the group while singer/songwriter Tanya & her band deliver fresh sounds of soul, jazz and pop.
Next up on Sunday 12 Jan 2020 from 5-8pm at Central Park, 148 Burke Rd, Malvern East are The Northern Folk and Rache Brennan & The Pines. Albury born and Melbourne based, The Northern Folk are known for their charismatic collective of powerful vocalists, horns, bass and percussion. They're in a league of their own; addictive and full of energy. Supported by Rache Brennan et tal, they're a group of singers and instrumentalists with lively singalong roots/pop and will perform some of their signature tunes from their latest album.
Last but not least in the series on Sun 19 Jan 2020 from 5-8pm are Emma Donovan and Laneous at Malvern Public Gardens, High St (corner High and Park Streets), Malvern. Indigenous Australian singer/songwriter Emma of the acclaimed musical Donovan family will take you on a journey through reggae, jazz and roots with her distinctly husky voice. Laneous, a self-taught musician, guitarist and vocalist with a soulful, silky voice and unique style merges perfectly as the support act.
PBS DJs will be spinning some tunes to warm you up from 5pm at each event before the artists and bands kick off their performances and you can replenish your dancing energy with a range of delicious refreshments from fish & chips, healthy wraps, cheese platters to gelato and iced tea from the food trucks within the parks. Sounds like a good reason to mark all these dates down in your diaries so you don't miss out on some amazing free entertainment.
