As the sun sets, prepare to immerse yourself in a reimagined chamber music experience that promises to be both magical and unexpected.
Scheduled for two exclusive performances, the first will take place in Brisbane on May 4th at 5 pm, followed by a second performance the next afternoon on May 5th at 3 pm on the Gold Coast. These concerts mark yet another milestone in SXS's illustrious journey of bringing music to audiences across Southeast Queensland and Northern New South Wales.
The centrepiece of these performances will be Hyung Suk Bae's rendition of J.S. Bach's iconic
Cello Suite No. 1 in G major, BWV 1007. This timeless masterpiece will be presented in its entirety, showcasing Bae's masterful interpretation and profound understanding of Bach's intricate compositions. However, what sets this recital apart is the innovative pairing of each movement of the suite with complementary works, curated by Hyung Suk Bae himself.
Audiences can expect a diverse and eclectic program, featuring a blend of classical and contemporary compositions. Among the selected pieces are Adrian Bell's
Ah! Sunflower, which will receive its world premiere, Peter Sculthorpe's haunting
Threnody, Ross Edwards' evocative
Prelude & Laughing Rock, Witold Lutoslawski's enigmatic
Sacher Variation, and Adrian Bell's lively
Gigue. This fusion of musical styles promises to take listeners on a journey of discovery, showcasing the versatility and virtuosity of both the performer and the compositions.
