I'm a beginning writer with a Brisbane Bucket-list and a desire to see it all and report back.
A year of great theatre
Recently I discovered Sunnybank Performing Arts Centre after being asked to view Roald Dahl's The Witches (which was absolutely fantastic by the way). This fantastic addition to Brisbane's South boasts a stunning theatre with the capacity to seat up to 300 people and a diverse plethora of shows from every genre including, drama, dance, music, comedy, cabaret, as well as a number of fabulous children's performances.
After enjoying myself so much at The Witches performance I wanted to ensure the rest of Brisbane knew about what is on offer at this amazing community venue, so make sure you take a look;
I have bought this book for every baby any relative or friend has ever had because I know it is one of the classics and will never be outdated. Now this fantastic book, and a number of Eric Carle's other tales, have been turned into a play for the whole family. It sounds like it will be a visual stunner with 57 puppets interacting on SunPAC's beautiful stage.

I absolutely can't wait to see this show as I have recently started a love affair with comedy hypnosis after seeing a performance on a cruise liner. What is better about this show is that Matt Hale, the man in charge, is award winning and has travelled all over the world with his skills. For those a bit apprehensive of hypnosis, know that Hale will only take volunteers on stage, so if this doesn't grab you, simply sit back and be filled with laughter and wonder at those brave individuals who have chosen to be involved. As a bonus your ticket comes with a food platter and drink.
This fabulous show has come back to Australia after a fantastic season at the Edinburgh Fringe. It is a mash-up of circus and comedy, and is clearly the perfect show for kids as, in 2015, it won Winner of the Best Children's Presentation at the Adelaide Fringe Festival. The actors on stage have a variety of skills to keep you hooked including those in acrobatics, comedy, slapstick and juggling.

Before seeing Blue Love patrons have the opportunity to join in on a dance workshop with choreographer Shaun Parker who is award winning... and for only an extra $15 why wouldn't you! If you've never given dance a try (and even if you have) this will definitely be something special. The performance itself is a blend of physical theatre, film, comedy and dance which focuses on the ever-complext concept of love.
If you are a fan of Fred Astaire's work then A Fine Romance: The Magic of Fred Astaire is the performance for you. It is a fabulous display of dance with era appropriate routines, music and costumes, which will take audiences on a tour of Astaire's life and journey to stardom.
