The artist, who is considered to be one of the finest young fingerstyle guitarists in the world will perform a playlist which includes popular hits and local favourites in Singapore's very own Kallang Theatre. Singapore is one of the stops where the Korean guitarist has scheduled for his 2017 Summer Fall World Tour. In August, he will perform in Thailand and Vietnam followed by a concert in Hong Kng. The last leg of his tour will be Taiwan.
2017 is a special year for Sungha Jung. The artist released his seventh solo album, Mixtape, in May 2017. It's a 'mixtape' of various genres that have largely influenced his music.
Sungha started to learn guitar at age of five when he saw his father played. He improved by watching and imitating videos of seasoned veterans such as Ulli Boegerhausen, Andy McKee and Kotaro Oshio who is his idol.
This 20-year old Korean artist debuted on the internet as a young child playing guitar. His cover of The Pirates of the Caribbean theme song made him an internet sensation with over 50 million views. Since then, he has caught the attention of many world-renowned guitarists. The artist has performed with some big names in the music industry like Jason Mraz, BIGBANG's G-Dragon, 2NE1, Tommy Emmanuel, YouTube Star Sam Tsui and Kurt Schneider.
His technique is fingerstyle where the guitarist uses the guitar like a piano and proceeds to perform the melody, bass, accompaniment and percussion all on a single instrument. His diverse repertoire of skills gives him the unique ability to craft engaging arrangements of popular songs from contemporary, jazz, Broadway and classical tunes. On top of that, he has composed some of his own original music.
