With a restless dog, it was time for the obligatory walk, and Mawson Lakes was our chosen destination this time. We parked in the University car park just off Mawson Lakes Boulevard, and commenced our walk along Park Way heading past a number of light industrial premises. Upon reaching Dry Creek, we headed right along the Dry Creek Linear Trail, before we came to the Mawson Lakes Boating Lake, known as Sir Douglas Mawson Lake.

This L-shaped lake doubles as a stormwater collection lake, and a lake large enough for recreational boating activities. We passed the headquarters of the Mawson Lakes Rowing Club before observing numerous model yachts sailing on the lake. These model yachts belonged to members of the Mawson Lakes Model Yacht Club, and were having their Sunday "recovery" session after having had their formal racing afternoon on Saturday.

The path around Sir Douglas Mawson Lake is a solid concrete path with plenty of room for walkers, cyclists, prams and dogs of all shapes and sizes. The path provides a natural break between the lake on one side, and the rear of numerous house, townhouses and cottages on the other side. Upon walking to the northwest corner of the lake we were greeted with a structure in the water that resembled either a half complete ladder, or perhaps two staircases that don't quite meet in the middle.

Next stop on our circuit was the Boatdeck café. We had heard from others about the quality and service from the Café, but nothing beats trying it yourself. The doggie bowl full of water was a much appreciated welcome relief for one of us. Plenty of seating choices with either inside, just outside the shopfront, or over the road on the Lake's edge.

The breakfast menu was still available, so we chose the toasted lebanese wrap, which was ham, cheese and tomato wrapped in toasted Lebanese Bread, and a serving of scrambled eggs on wood oven toast. The lebanese wrap was especially delightful with oozing melted cheese.

After breakfast, and some pleasant coffee, we returned to the walking path for the final part of our walk back to the car, and a very relaxing morning, and a now tired dog.
