With a stunning panoramic view of Brisbane and divine gourmet food,
Mt Coot-tha's 'Summit' Restaurant provides for an evening of truly fine dining.
Sitting atop of Mt Coot-tha, simply follow Sir Samuel Griffith Drive all the way around the ring road where designated restaurant parking is adjacent to the balcony.
I was there for a birthday function on the Queen's birthday holiday where there were few, if any other diner's eating. This made for a very comfortable and loving experience for this family event.
Positioned in the Fountain View room, we had a view out over the balcony and beyond to the sparkling lights of Brisbane beneath us.
Choosing from a set menu can often leave you with a lack of selection, however the diversity of Summit's 'Sunset dinner menu' was quite refreshing. I had some of the most tender and light Barramundi that I had ever tasted. Also on offer was a variety of fresh seafood (including thai crab cakes and salmon) as well as star anise braised beef or smoked chicken with home made pappardelle.
The desserts which followed left our party in ecstasy. The favorite was a choc fudge ice cream sandwich with hot chocolate ganache drizzled over the top.
At $37.50 a person, the sunset dinner menu is affordable and good value, when compared with the full menu mains priced from $35 each. However, I would say that the pricing is completely justified by the excellent meals.
The atmosphere and ambiance of this restaurant is really what puts the cherry on top of this amazing cake. The view, specialty function rooms and excellent, friendly service with a smile all combine to produce a very enjoyable night out.
