Waddle it be? A quacking good time
Summertime Riverfest and Australia's Biggest Duck Race together form the premier fundraising event for the PA Research Foundation and its work in cancer research. It's back for a quacking good time on Saturday 21 October 2017 and you don't want to miss all the bright yellow plastic fun.
You may have already see the event's giant mascot, Quackers, floating on Brisbane River. Unfortunately, he lost his puff over the weekend due to an unfortunate incident of vandalisation. He's filled out again and ready to encourage Brisbaneites to get involved in the fun family event, as well as the fundraising that goes with it.
All the action of Summertime Riverfest will begin at 12 noon on Saturday 21 October at Riverside Drive, West End (across the river from the iconic Regatta Hotel) and continue until 8pm. Everyone will be catered for with a range of family-friendly, foodie and musical activities, as well as Australia's Biggest Duck Race and a Celebrity Duck Race.
Pradella River Stage Bands lined to perform throughout the day include CKNU, Screamfeeder, Louise Adams, LSPhilosophy, The Hi-Boys and We All Want To. The big finale will feature The Antipodean Rock 'n' Roll Collective (ARC), whose members are four of Aussie rock's most iconic players – Kram from Spiderbait, Mark Wilson from Jet, Davey Lane from You Am I and Darren Middleton from Powderfinger.
No, The Regatta's not moving, it's just expanding across the river so you can indulge in some of their favourite foods in the festival's own popup eatery.
St. George Gone Quackers Kids Zone Here kids can meet Ollie and Elly from Toasted TV, make a yellow rubber race duck, and enjoy rides, zorbing, face painting and a jumping castle. A new feature for 2017 will be the St George Queensland Reds Inflatable Football Field. Sounds like fun.
Regatta Ducks Nuts Inn This one is for Over 18s. Have a drink and catch all the action from a booth near the Pradella River Stage and dance the evening away on the special dance floor
Duck Inn - Chill Out Zone From 12pm Ollie and Elly from Toasted TV will be introducing shows live on stage from a range of Network personalities including Lee from Scope TV, Ranger Stacey from Totally Wild, and Croc, Molly and Truffle from Crocamole. You'll also be entertained by Brisbane singer Shanon Watkins.
Celebrity Duck Race
Celebrities will compete in the Celebrity Duck Race aboard giant inflatable ducks on the 50-metre course on the Brisbane River. Thrills, spills and merriment are assured.
