A regular trip to the beach normally involves a dip in the sea, sun-bathing, strolling along the beach, playing a few beach sports, sand toys for the kids, collecting sea-shells, running after annoying sea-birds, a picnic and enjoying the beautiful views of the cool waters and taking in the sea breeze. There are however ways to add a bit of excitement and thrill on a trip to the beach, and a quick google search on "adventure sea activities in (my city)" will give you some excellent results.
Here are just a few suggestions for some ultra-cool sea activities that you might like to try. They have been listed in order of increasing level of fitness and challenge:
Sea-kayaking If you wish to enjoy the calm waters along the coast, hiring a sea kayak might be an excellent idea. Kite Boarding or Wake-Boarding Definitely not for the faint-hearted, kite-boarding will most probably be on top-spot on a thrill-seeker's must-do list. As the name suggests, the kite-boarder surfs the sea while harnessed to a kite which fuels the thrill-ride. Experts at kite boarding can indulge into all sorts of acrobatic moves, but the beginners can perhaps start with a simple and basic tutorial. An alternate to being harnessed to a kite is to be harnessed to a motor boat, and this sport is called wake-boarding.
