With some of the best beaches being on the Mornington Peninsula, why not make the most of the summer sunshine, beautiful beaches and your New Years resolution to get fit by entering a few of these great swim events.
The list runs in order of dates, and if you're really keen you could do one every week starting with:
Point Leo Swim Classic offers a gruelling 5km option or the more gentle 1200m or 400m nipper swim and a 4km beach run. Held on the 26th of December, it may be a good incentive to go light on the roast turkey. Entry costs $50 for 5km, $45 for 1200m, to register click here. Entries close Dec 21st.
Sorrento Bay Swim is on the 12th of January and attracts around 600 swimmers. There are 3 options with a 2km swim, 1.2km swim and junior swim. Entry for the 2km is $50 and entry on the day is an extra $10. You can register here.
The Bloody Big Swim is an 11.2km marathon swim from Frankston life saving club to Mills Beach life saving club in Mornington. The event will be held on the 18th of January, entries are open until the 10th of January and costs $95. For more info click here.
The Grand Swim Challenge is also on the 18th of January as it uses some of the Bloody Big Swim course from Mills Beach in Mornington. The swim is 1200 metres and entry is $40. For more info and to register, click here.
Portsea Swim Classic is on the 25th of January from 11am- 5pm and last year attracted a whopping 1,800 competitors. The main swim is 1.5km and entry is $50, entry on the day add $10. To find out more, click here.
MAAD Swim at Mt Martha is on Australia Day (26th Jan) and has 3 options to choose from with the 5km 'Crazy Swim', 1.2km swim an 400m swim. Prices are $55/$40/$25. To enter or for more details, click here.
Dromana Bay Pier Swim is on the 1st of February and has two events with a 1.2km swim and the novice 600m swim. Entry is $40/$15. You can enter here.
