Summer Streets

It's officially summer and with Christmas and events on the horizon, it's time to get out and about to enjoy the things we love and experience the new. Georges River Council, in partnership with the NSW Government, is one body putting on the seasonal fun with a series of buzzing themed celebrations to bring life back into the streets.

Summer Streets is the name for this suite of 4 family-friendly outings that include markets, crafts, circus tricks, amusement rides, giant games, music and roving entertainment, light displays, delicious food, a beer garden, and more.

In date order, event details are as follows:-

Summer Streets Christmas Markets - 9/12/21, 4pm-10pm, Forest Rd Hurstville

In the heart of Hurstville, Christmas sparkles at this market with a magical starry wonderland of festive decorations and light displays. Shop for gifts in the street market, enjoy Christmas carols and roving performers, carnival rides and crafts.

When hunger gets the better of you, indulge in temptations from popular local restaurants.

Summer Streets Circus School - 18-19/12/21, 10am-3pm, Kogarah Town Square

This pop-up circus school will have you stretching muscles and exploring all avenues of circus and street theatre, from circus playgrounds to aerial performance techniques and learning favourite circus tricks.

It's a wide spectrum of uniquely themed entertainment and it's free. No bookings are required, just turn up for a fun experience.

Summer Streets Pop-up Park - 14-16/1/22, 10am-4pm, Palm Court Hurstville

A tropical fairyland is what you'll find at this busy junction that aims to bring people together to meet, relax and engage. Summer deck chairs and garden tables add to the ambience, whilst a free circus school and giant yard games offer something for those that want a bit more activity.

It's summer fun for all.

Summer Streets Night Markets - 21/1/22, 4pm-10pm, Belgrave St Kogarah

An entire street block is transforming here into a playground for kids and adults. Shop at the foodies and farmers market, enjoy the outdoor beer garden and listen to live funk pop band Phat Brass.

So gather friends and family for a fabulous evening under the stars.

This program of events will inject over half a million dollars into the local community and create jobs in the process. It's a win-win for everyone as the streets are filled with alfresco dining, drinking, live performances and some surprise elements.
