Hobsons Bay City Council is set to make Summer a whole lot better with Summer Sounds in 2019 . Running from Sunday 13 January to 16 February you can download the music program online.

Bring family, bring friends and enjoy the free outdoor music performances by some of our country's finest artists; a music festival in our own backyard. Don't forget to bring a rug or a picnic and get set to enjoy the free music and chill with loved ones. The lineup is as follows.


  • Sunday 13 January from 2pm to 5pm, The Mad Hatters at Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown - electro-swing, funky-jazzy house and soul.
  • Saturday 19 January from 4pm to 6pm, Big T (NZ born -Factor contestant) and Band at McCormack Park, Laverton - pop tunes
  • Sunday 20 January from 2pm to 5pm, Darren Middleton (Aussie Rock Royalty; Powderfinger) Alice Skye (Indie/triple J favourite) at Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown for beautiful songs and rich melodies.


  • Sunday 27 January from 2pm to 5pm, The Logan Two at Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown - acoustic stylings & haunting vocals.
  • Friday 9 February from 4pm to 7pm, Boom Crash Opera , plus William Bloom (earthy roots & soulful voice) and Teeny Tiny Stevies (children's favourite) at Logan Reserve, Pier Street, Altona - 80s & 90s hits plus more
  • Saturday 16 February from 4pm to 6pm Countdown 80s (live retro band) at Homestead Run Reserve, Seabrook


  • These events can be interjected by Movies by the Bay. Magic happens as darkness falls (approx 8.45pm), so bring the little ones for a bit of thrill to be out late with mum and dad as follows.

  • Peter Rabbit (PG) on Friday 11 January at Logan Reserve, Altona
  • Smallfoot (G) on Friday 25 January at Logan Reserve, Altona
  • Hotel Transylvania 3: A Monster Vacation (PG) on Friday 1 February at Laverton Cricket Club, Altona Meadows.

  • For something new, in their new location at Commonwealth Reserve, Williamstown, ticketed events at Sunset Cinema has a full program of films under the stars, bringing this beautiful seaside park to life this summer by kicking off with current favourite Bohemian Rhapsody on 24 Jan 2019.     You could try winning a Season Pass to Williamstown's Outdoor Cinema. That's two tickets to every screening of the season. Head to their FB page and like the particular post promoting the event, tag 2 movie-loving pals in the comments and make sure you're following them. Entries close 8pm 13 Jan 2019, with winners notified the following day.

    That's your summer entertainment covered! Hobsons Bay City Council have a lot of events running at all times, so do follow them on Facebook to stay updated via their event pages. On that note, during school holidays, heading to the Williamstown Library between the 10th and 18th of January, kids can get involved in a Wildlife Display at Altona Library, a Young Adventurers with Labcoat Learning event and more.
