Free Summer Solstice Festival @ Federation Square

Federation Square is celebrating the
Summer Solstice on Saturday, 17 December, with an afternoon of free live music performances and workshops. (
Technically the Summer Solstice will fall on Thursday, 22 December, 05:30am this year).
This free family friendly event will begin kick off at 1.15pm on the Federation Square Main Stage with a performance by the
Jerusalem Gospel Rumba . Following this performance, which will include a congo line,
Asanti Dance Theatre will host a half hour drumming workshop at 2.00pm and later at 3.00pm.
A.R.A.B (Anti Racism Action Band) will perform a special jam session on the Federation Square Main Stage at 3.30pm, followed by
Shaking the Tree at 4.00pm. Shaking the Tree is a choir which is known for performing contemporary classics, including songs by Leonard Cohen, Midnight Oil and The Cure.
Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir will close the event at 4.30pm with a special half hour performance. The Melbourne Mass Gospel Choir recently performed a series of sold out show in Melbourne entitled 'Gospel Songs Of Bob Dylan'.
