This exciting range of short courses is delivered by artists and industry professionals.These courses will help you develop a wonderful range of skills from life drawing to logo design; pattern making to painting; wheel throwing to watercolours and more.Summer School 2019 is from 14 until 21 January 2019 at the TAFE SA Adelaide College of the Arts in the Adelaide CBD.[BREAK]
Fashion Courses Corsetry Making Learn the techniques and tricks to create a fashionable and well-fitted corset. You will gain an understanding of all the stages of sewing with steel boning and busks, and at the end of the course you will have crafted your own unique corset. Pattern Making for Beginners An introduction to the basic principles of pattern making for fashion garments. The skills gained from this short course can be applied to various garments, including skirts, dresses and pants. Illustration for Fashion Design with Petar Prodanovic Discover fashion illustration with visual artist turned designer, Petar Prodanovic. Learn to draw the modern fashion figure with garments and accessories and explore the techniques to create various fabrics, textures and the drape of fabric on the figure. Bra Making Learn the basics of bra making, including correct measuring techniques, pattern drafting and construction. During this course you will complete a made-to-measure standard underwire bra.[BREAK]
Graphic Design and Print Media Courses Masterclass: Creative Thinking Challenge and enhance your creative thinking in this one day intensive masterclass with a graphic design industry expert. Master the techniques to explore and create ideas and learn how to develop habits to think in a more creative way. Masterclass: Typography Have a 'helvetica' good time! Typography plays an essential role in the graphic design industry and it is important to have the skills and knowledge to apply typography effectively. This one day masterclass will provide an overview of typography and teach you typography techniques using Adobe Illustrator. Masterclass: Logo Design Fundamentals A logo is much more than just a mark on a page. Join our graphic design industry expert and explore the logo creation process, from mind maps, sketching, development and critique to concept. You will use Adobe Illustrator to develop a logo, including adding colour and applying type.[BREAK]
Photography Courses Basic Photography and Editing Learn how to shoot the perfect picture and make the most of your camera settings. Explore exposure, shutter speed and aperture as well as uploading, editing and cataloguing your photos in Lightroom. Nat Rogers presents Studio Portraiture Masterclass Spend the day learning hands on studio portraiture photography from a professional portrait photographer. You will learn studio lighting and portrait posing in a fully equipped studio. Nat Rogers presents Studio Product Photography Masterclass Discover studio product photography in this hands on short course presented by a professional commercial photographer. You will learn studio lighting and product styling in a fully equipped studio.[BREAK]
Visual Arts and Craft Course Fran Callen presents Life Drawing - 'Drawing Us' Learn drawing techniques from Fran Callen using a variety of exercises that are based on 'drawing life from life', including drawing movement and moving figures. Watercolour with Sue Ninham Learn a variety of basic watercolour techniques and tricks with Sue Ninham, including how to prepare a palette and how to achieve luminous, loose transparency with the paint. Meghan O'Rourke presents Introduction to Jewellery Making An introduction to silver jewellery making with contemporary jeweller and metalsmith, Meghan O'Rourke. During this course you will be guided through the design and creation of a pendant and ring. Phil Hart presents Introduction to Wheel Throwing Experienced lecturer and ceramic artist, Phil Hart, will take you through the fundamental skills of wheel throwing where you will learn how to centre clay on the wheel, throw cylinder and bowl forms and turning.[BREAK]
