Rocking all night long for a good cause
The Redlands Rugby League Club has over 450 registered players, with multiple teams in every age group and catering for players for all skill levels. Last year, for the first time, they were able to field a girls team. How cool is this? The club has two quality sports fields that are bounded by beautiful gumtrees and are susceptible to cooling breezes off Moreton Bay. The location itself is iconically Redlands.
It's a community club. Boys who played footie for the club back in the 70's and 80's, are now watching their own sons play the sport on weekends, and even drop them off for training mid week.
It's a club where friendships are formed, young people gain new skills, and learn to participate as a team. It is also a club with a strong social conscience. Fundraising from within the club assists the members by way of upgrading facilities and the purchase of trophies for Presentation evenings. Fundraising ventures are also organised to assist other local community groups.
Seven bands will be performing and donating their services for free for this worthy cause. The line up includes two top Queensland tribute shows, The Beatlegs and UK Bee Gees. The other acts are Brisbane originals and cover bands.
The Club is located at the Pinklands Sporting Complex, at 227 Cleveland - Redland Bay Road, Thornlands. Admission Fee is $10 and doors open at 3pm. The evening will finish at 11pm.
Food and bar facilities are available. Off street parking is plentiful and it's a cheap taxi fare from Cleveland Railway Station.
Doesn't this sound like a great night out with mates? And how good is it not to have to travel into the city for all that live music? All for a good cause too.
