When writing about the Adelphi's roof top pool parties over summer, I was bemoaning the fact that more hotels do not open up their pools to the public over summer.

Then I discovered that Melbourne's iconic Langham Hotel actually does.

From the 1st of January 2016, Chuan Spa at the Langham will re-open its pool club concept.

Basically you can buy a three month membership which lasts you through to the end of March.

Like any other pool, you can go in and sunbaked and relax or do some laps of the pool.

The difference is of course, that you have one of the most stunning views in Melbourne, over the iconic Flinder's Street Station, the spires of St Patrick's Cathedral and the incredible Melbourne city skyline.

Every visit includes a bottle of water, sunscreen, refreshing icy pole, fresh towel and a locker to store all your gear.

Or you can sit around and enjoy Perrier Jouet Champagne, a range of signature cocktails and light meals including a healthy salads, indulgent Angus beef burgers or the hotel's significant club sandwiches. The pool bar will also be open whenever the weather permits.

You receive 10% discount on dining on the pool deck, as well as other dining options including the award-winning Melba restaurant and the hotel's inviting bar and lounge, Aria

The advantages continue to mount as membership also entitles you to complimentary valet parking whilst using the facilities. How is that for swankiness.

You also have access to the aroma-infused therapeutic steam rooms, traditional Swedish dry sauna and stimulating river stone rain showers where 12 jets of water work on separate muscle groups.

There is a 25% discount on treatments on Monday to Thursday at Chuan Spa, which is one of the world's best hotel spas and where treatments are based on the principles of Chinese medicine. The list of treatments is here . Ladies maybe this could be your new summer meeting.

The membership also includes 10% discount off retail products.

The Chuan Spa includes a two-level spa and outdoor deck based on the time-honoured principles of Feng Shui.

As you can imagine all of this opulence does not come cheaply, but I would probably put it in the bracket of affordable luxury. The membership is ($299.00 upfront) for the entire three months. And there seem to be real advantages here for anyone who works or lives in the city and wants to enjoy the long summer evenings in luxurious surroundings, while getting some exercise at the same time.

If you do not want to tie yourself up for thee months another option are the day passes that allow you to use the hotel's saltwater swimming pool, jacuzzi, steam room, sauna and fitness centre.

Nothing quite prepares you for the experience of floating in the zero edge jacuzzi, surrounded by floor to ceiling fold back windows with these amazing views over the the city skyline.

This is $45.00 for adults and $20.00 for children (16 years and under). This might be a nice experience during the school holidays as even a two hour movie can set you back quite a bit and here you can have a whole day of luxury and an experience instead of the "same-old."

Memberships are available by contacting Chuan Spa on 03 8696 8111.
